OneBlade Core Review – Is it Worth It?

If you’re like me, you’re always on the lookout for a great razor. I’ve tried many different brands and always come back to my MANSCAPED Plow 2.0. But recently, I came across the OneBlade Core razor and thought I’d give it a try.

I was impressed with the OneBlade Core. It gave me a close shave and didn’t leave any irritation or razor burn. I also like that it has a pivoting head, which made it super easy to follow the contours of my face. OneBlade Core was very effective and gave me a great have overall. It is worth mentioning that the Core is marketed as a beginner-friendly intro to wet shaving as it is very user-friendly and forgiving.

The downsides of the Core that I found were that the handle can be slippery with wet hands, the blade is sometimes hard to pull out and replace, and the cost of the razor itself is on the higher side. Negative aside, if you’re looking for a great razor that will give you a close, comfortable shave, I would recommend it.

Unboxing The OneBlade Core Razor

OneBlade Core box contents

The Core came well packaged in a nice thick cardboard box. The box itself has a sleek design on the outside featuring an image of the OneBlade Core. Inside of the box is the Core razor, some sample blades by feather, instructions, and a razor stand.

The included stand is a bit odd, but convenient for keeping the razor lifted off whatever surface you might have it on.

OneBlade Core

As you can see in the image above, the OneBlade Core highly resembles the look and build of a disposable razor. The handle is made of plastic with a metal core to give it some weight.

The pivoting head of the Core razor is where the razor shines. Single edge blades are inserted into the top and a click indicates when the razor is fully seated. To remove the blade, you simply pull the blade forward while lifting it out of the head.

Shaving with The OneBlade Core

Shaving with the Core was pretty straightforward. The design of the razor closely mimics the feel of a disposable razor. Also, the head of the razor is designed in such a way to greatly reduce irritation, which makes this razor very forgiving. I guess you could say that the Core is designed with newbies in mind.

As for the quality of the shave, I have no complaints. I used my typical setup, a pre-shave oil, cream applied with a brush and bowl, and some Proraso aftershave (which happens to be a favorite). I got a nice smooth shave with very little irritation.

Something that I disliked about the Core was that the handle is very smooth plastic, which caught me by surprise when it almost slipped from my hand. Also, the blades can be a little difficult to change, which I’m assuming is due to the design and material of the head.

OneBlade Core Vs Traditional Safety Razors

The OneBlade Core is a very niche razor because it introduces novice wet shavers to the world of safety razors. Traditional safety razors come in either 2 or 3-piece setups, most of which are double-edged. The OneBlade Core is more accommodating because it’s super forgiving and has a pivoting head. Traditional safety razors, on the other hand, do not have pivoting heads and are far less forgiving to a person inexperienced in using one.

What’s to Like About The OneBlade Core

  • Very beginner-friendly
  • Disposable blades save money
  • Less irritation
  • Bridges the gap between disposable razors and traditional safety razors
  • Smooth shave
  • Pivoting head

What Could Be Disliked About The Core

  • The handle can be slippery
  • Blades can be difficult to change

Overall Impression

With the OneBlade Core, you don’t have to be a professional at wet shaving. The Core attempts to bridge the gap between disposable razors and traditional safety razors. The pivoting design of the head allows you to get all the contours of your face, especially around the chin area. Disposable blades are also a game-changer as they save you money over constantly buying packs of disposable razors. Overall, the OneBlade Core is a pretty great eco-friendly alternative to disposable razors that delivers a high-quality shave and is beginner-friendly.
